I know, I know, I’ve seriously neglected this blog! I actually have a stash of Kit Kats to share with you all, but I’ve been too busy to upload them. For now, I’ll just share the exciting news that there are some new Kit Kat Chunky flavours in the UK:

You can vote for your favourite on Facebook, and by voting there’s also a chance to win £100! The flavours are: Double Choc, White Choc, Peanut Butter and Orange. I haven’t sampled them all yet, but I’m betting the Orange will be my favourite.

Zunda Kit Kat for Tohoku

Oh happy days – my lovely friend sent me a Zunda (ずんだ) Kit Kat from Japan! This Kit Kat is extra special, because it is being sold to help raise money for Japan. ￥10 from every bar goes to Red Cross Japan.

So what is zunda? Well, in the words of Alice from SuperHappyAwesome “Zunda is basically mashed up, unroasted, sweetened soy beans. It’s a staple in the Tohoku area apparently, and a common sweet like Anko or red bean paste in other parts of Japan.“

The Kit Kat is made with white chocolate which has a sort of pale green hint to it, and the general taste is… beany. It reminds me of something which I can’t quite put my finger on (perhaps edamame?!), but I like it. [Edit: I've just worked out what the flavour reminds me of - it's those Calbee edamame crisps you can get in Japan!!]

Kit Kat Pop Choc Yogurt

Since I’ve been back in the UK I have been wanting to try this new Kit Kat Pop Choc yogurt, and I finally found one the other day (usually available in a pack of six, I managed to find one sold individually in Tesco).

It’s a typical corner-style dessert, where the Kit Kat Pop Choc pieces are in a separate corner, and then you can tip or spoon them into the yogurt.

It’s incredibly yummy.

Do you remember the other day when I won a Kit Kat sculpture competition? Well, the prize turned up the next day…

48 four-finger Kit Kats.

Yes, 48. Count them.

I sat and looked at them for a while, happy, excited, but fearful that this was the end of any chance I ever had at dieting. Naturally, while I was thinking I had a Kit Kat…

As I don’t have my own place of work right now, I decided to give a whole bunch of them to my mum to take into her office. That helped me get rid of a lot of them. Don’t get me wrong, you know I love Kit Kats and would happily make them the seventh food group, but I have no will power when it comes to Kit Kats. If they’re in the house, I eat them.

So, I got on the Internet and Googled “Kit Kat recipes”. It wasn’t long before I found a recipe for Kit Kat crunch cheesecake, which looked divine. I was going to a friend’s house for dinner on Saturday night, so I decided it was time to bake and share!

The recipe was really simple. I won’t repeat the whole recipe here as it’s not my own, but please click here if you want to know exact quantities etc.

Basically, I took six four-finger Kit Kats and smashed them up, which was fun.

After crushing them and mixing them with melted butter, I squished them into a cake tin to make the cheesecake’s base:

Then I mixed mascarpone cheese with whipped double cream (light version!), lime juice and zest, and sugar:

And made the topping:

I added some lime slices for decoration, which was a bad idea.

They looked pretty but tasted bad the next day, so don’t do that! we had to pick them off before we ate the cheesecake.

Despite the near failure-by-lime, the cheesecake was a success!

Yay me!

I have had 焼いも (Yaki Imo – Baked sweet potato) flavour Kit Kat before, but in Tokyo in April I managed to find it in a chunky bar:

The white chocolate and sweet potato makes for a very sweet but yummy Kit Kat!

In April, I went to Tokyo and found this wonderful souvenir shop in Tokyo Station, which had so many different kinds of Kit Kats:

I really, really wanted to buy one of each, but I restrained myself and just bought the ones I hadn’t tried.

Annin Dofu Fumi Kit Kat (which instantly leaps into my top ten!):

This Kit Kat is from Yokohama. Annin Dofu is a kind of Chinese almond pudding made with tofu, and this Kit Kat tastes exactly like the real thing!

I also bought Kankitsu Ogon Blend (Citrus Golden Blend) Kit Kats from Shikoku:

These were probably the most “normal” and yet still exciting Kit Kats I have found in Japan. They were really fruity and zingy.
